Eric Jones had just received his MFA from the University of Iowa’s Nonfiction Writing Program in the Spring of 2002 when he started Adamantine Spine Moving, an independent local and long distance moving company. In addition to his MFA in writing, he has a BA in American Literature and an MA in English, which means he hasn’t taken a single business, finance, or accounting course. That’s one of the main reasons why it took him over a decade of co-leading a successful small business before he finally stopped telling people he didn’t know anything about business. He lives in Iowa City with his wife Erika, a neonatal intensive care unit nurse at UIHC, and his 3-year-old son.
